Four worlds to explore

The everyday math kids use every day

Telling time, the calendar, money and measuring are skills children use outside the classroom. In Pip, every one of them is something to pick up and try.

Telling time

Learn to tell time on a real analog clock

Kids meet Hugo, the short hour hand, and Milo, the long minute hand. They set the hands, read the clock and write the time: hours and half hours, quarter hours, five-minute times, then a.m. and p.m. Lesson 8 adds time to the minute, and a bonus lesson asks how long things take.

  • Hours and half hours
  • Quarter hours
  • Counting by fives
  • a.m. and p.m.

Calendar

Days, months, seasons and dates

What day comes before Sunday? What was yesterday? Kids learn the days of the week (Sunday first) and the twelve months, turn the year wheel to find a season, tap dates on a real calendar page, and learn which months have 28, 30 or 31 days.

Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters, drawn in their real size order, plus $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills. Kids count coins, make amounts in a coin tray, use the fewest coins, make change from a dollar and solve money story problems. Lesson 8 adds dollars and cents together, like $2.35.

How a lesson works

Listen, do it, check it

Every question in Pip is an action, not a multiple-choice guess. Kids learn by moving the clock hands, the coins and the ruler themselves.

Set Hugo to11 o’clock

Pip asks

A short question appears and Pip reads it out loud. Kids tap the speaker to hear it again.

Your child does it

Turn the clock hands, tap a coin, drag the ruler or add a weight to the scale.

Check and earn stars

Kids see right away if they got it. If not, they fix it and try again until it clicks.

Rewards

Stars, stickers and a star jar that dresses Pip up

  • Stars

Every lesson earns 1 to 3 stars, and every finished lesson adds its stars to the weekly star jar.

  • A star jar that dresses Pip up

Fill the jar with 15 stars in a week and Pip gets something new to wear: a cap, a crown, a flower and a hat. Stars from the free lessons count too.

  • The Sticker Book

43 stickers on five painted pages. A lesson with all 3 stars earns a shiny foil sticker.

  • Worlds that grow

Each world has a landmark that grows: a tower block lights, a tree blossoms, a coin drops into the jar, a folding ruler opens one more piece.

  • Certificates

Finish a world and the Parents area makes a certificate to print. Finish all four for the Little School Graduate.

Certificates

A certificate for every world

When your child finishes all the lessons of a world, the Parents area makes a certificate with your child’s first name and the date, ready to print on Letter or A4 paper. Finish all four worlds and Pip awards the Little School Graduate certificate. The name stays on your device.

For parents

Made for young learners, set up for grown-ups

The Parents area sits behind a parent gate and is written for grown-ups. It shows how your child is doing and lets you set how Pip plays.

  • Progress and time

See each world go from “Not started” to “Got it”, and how much time your child spent in lessons today and this week.

  • Where your child gets stuck

The most common mistake so far, with a tip to try at home. At this age, mistakes are part of learning.

  • Practice that comes back

Daily practice mixes 6 questions from finished lessons. Lessons come back after 1, 7, 30 and 90 days, so they stick.

  • Your family’s schedule

Add the times for school, lunch and bedtime. The clock lessons sometimes ask your child to set them.

  • You decide when Pip naps

After 1 to 8 lessons, or after 15 to 60 minutes, Pip says goodbye at the end of a lesson. Off by default.

  • Your school’s standards

Each lesson shows its grade in the standards your child’s school uses: Common Core, Texas TEKS, Florida B.E.S.T. or Virginia SOL.

Made for every learner

  • Every word read aloud

Pip reads every question, hint and lesson intro, with a speaker to hear it again. Kids who can’t read yet can play alone.

  • Less motion

One switch, or the device’s own setting, turns off confetti, jumps and wiggles.

  • Larger text

The child screens follow the phone’s text size, and the Parents area follows it fully.

  • Screen readers

Every control has a spoken label, and answers are announced as “right answer” or “not yet”.

Does Pip teach analog clocks?

Yes. Kids learn on an analog clock with two friendly hands: Hugo, the short hour hand, and Milo, the long minute hand. They set the hands, read the clock and write the time.
